Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it. - Proverbs 22:6

Our goal in Vista Grande's Children Ministry is to help children know, love, and follow Christ with all their hearts. We recognize that parents have the primary responsibility for teaching their children about the Lord; Children's Ministry is here to support and and assist parents in that endeavor.

The safety and security of the children is our priority. Children's Ministry's leaders, teachers, and teacher's assistants must all pass a national background check. Our policy is to assign a minimum of two adults per classroom. Parents may unobtrusively observe their children through the window in each classroom door.

Our Nursery caregivers welcome babies - infant through 23 months - both before and during the service. The Nursery is also available for moms to change diapers or nurse their little ones.

Our Primary class is open for children ages two through kindergarten. Our Primary teachers use the Hands-On Bible Curriculum from Group Publishing, Inc. They 'teach the way Jesus taught,' using every day objects. This approach is especially engaging for children with short attention spans and lots of energy. Teachers provide a range of activities designed to encourage the mental, physical, and spiritual growth of these precious children.

Older children - those in the first through fifth grade - may attend the Intermediate class. Their teachers use Child Evangelism Fellowship materials and Studying the Bible: The Foundation for Knowing God. Intermediate students hear accounts from the Bible, learn how to memorize scripture, use the Bible and related reference materials, have prayer time, engage in art activities, and play review games. Boys and girls are dismissed to class by Pastor Charles after Praise and Worship.

(Note: A celebration of the Lord's Supper occurs on the second Sunday of each month. On that day, Intermediate students remain in the sanctuary with the rest of their church family.)
