What We Believe

HOLY BIBLE-The Holy Bible was written by men inspired by God and is God’s revelation of Himself to man. It has God for its author, salvation for its end, and truth, without any mixture of error, for its matter. Therefore, all Scripture is totally true and trustworthy.
GOD-There is one, and only one, living and true God. He is an intelligent, spiritual, and personal Being, the Creator, Redeemer, Preserver, and Ruler of the universe. God is all powerful and all knowing; and His perfect knowledge extends to all things, past, present, and future, including the future decisions of people, who also have free will. To Him we owe the highest love, reverence, and obedience.  God reveals Himself to us as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, with distinct personal attributes, but without division of nature, essence, or being.
Human Beings- We are the special creation of God, made in His own image. He created us as the crowning work of His creation.
Jesus- Jesus was born of a virgin and as the Son of God, he is all God and all man. He died on a cross to take the punishment for our sins and rose from the dead three days later. We are called to accept who he is, what he has done for us, and follow him as Lord and Savior of our life.
Salvation- Everyone has sinned (broken God’s law) and therefore, are destined to be separated forever (hell) from God. God provided for salvation from this by sending Jesus to take the punishment for our sin in our place. We can accept this gift of salvation by placing our faith in Jesus and asking for forgiveness for our sin.
Baptism- Baptism is an important ordinance of the church. After a person has placed their faith in Jesus and asked for forgiveness, they spiritually are a new person. Jesus gave us the example of baptism by immersion. This is a picture of the old being buried and then rising up as a new person. Baptism is not required for salvation, but is an act of obedience.
Communion- (Lord’s Supper) This is an important symbolic remembrance of the sacrifice Jesus made, taking the punishment in our place for our sin.

About Vista Grande Church

Jesus Christ as explained in the Bible is what we are about.  We exist to know Him and make Him known.

Rest assured, on the outside we look fairly normal – we are retirees, school teachers, engineers, stay at home moms. But something has changed within us.

As much as we enjoy this life, we really believe that even if a person has:

  • the most rewarding friendships
  • can experience every created beauty
  • and enjoy these things forever —

if they don’t have Jesus Christ, it would not be heaven.

The reason we think this way is because we have come to understand Jesus is God, and He, through His death, burial and resurrection brings ungodly people to God. And it is God alone who defines and is the source of all that is good (I Peter 3:18; James 1:17; Psalm 36:8).

The Word of God tells us that Jesus is God and that He was put to death on a cross as a substitute in our place, because we have all sinned (Romans 3:23). Through faith in Jesus, something has happened inside us. In our hearts and minds we now see and know that the eternal God of the universe is the most precious and most necessary person. To know Him and follow Him is the best life a person can have (II Corinthians 4:4-6; John 17:3; Psalm 16:11).

In the Bible, Jesus says that to know Him is like having a spring of clear, pure water within you. It’s always satisfying our thirst and it’s always flowing out and over its banks.

There’s something about knowing Him who is eternal that creates a desire to let others know the treasure we have found. That’s what we mean when we say we exist to know Jesus Christ and make Him known. We are committed to obey His command to make disciples of all the nations, so that Jesus will be glorified in all the earth (Isaiah 11:9, Romans 10:8-11).
