What We Teach
"What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us."
- A.W. Tozer
Core Beliefs
The following are the core beliefs of Vista Grande Church - Sandia Park based on the foundational truths taught in the bible. All of our teaching and ministry is rooted in and flows out of these biblical doctrines.
1
God
There is one, and only one, living and true God. He is an intelligent, spiritual, and personal Being, the Creator, Redeemer, Preserver, and Ruler of the universe. God is all powerful and all knowing; and His perfect knowledge extends to all things, past, present, and future, including the future decisions of people, who also have free will. To Him we owe the highest love, reverence, and obedience. God reveals Himself to us as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, with distinct personal attributes, but without division of nature, essence, or being.
6
Baptism
Baptism is an essential ordinance of the church. After a person has placed their faith in Jesus and asked for forgiveness, they spiritually are a new person. Jesus gave us the example of baptism by immersion. This is a picture of the old being buried and then rising up as a new person. Baptism is not required for salvation but is an act of obedience.
2
Jesus Christ
Jesus was born of a virgin and as the Son of God, he is all God and all man. He died on a cross to take the punishment for our sins and rose from the dead three days later. We are called to accept who he is, what he has done for us, and follow him as Lord and Savior of our life.
4
Holy Bible
The Holy Bible was written by men inspired by God and is God's revelation of Himself to man. It has God for its author, salvation for its end, and truth, without any mixture of error, for its matter. Therefore, all Scripture is totally true and trustworthy.
3
Mankind
We are the unique creation of God, made in His own image. He created us as the crowning work of His creation.
7
Ressurection
Jesus Christ is returning one day to judge both the living and the dead and to usher in the fullness of God's kingdom on earth.
5
Salvation
Everyone has sinned (broken God's law) and, therefore, is destined to be separated forever (hell) from God. God provided for salvation from this by sending Jesus to take the punishment for our sin in our place. We can accept this gift of salvation by placing our faith in Jesus and asking for forgiveness for our sins.
